Penelope Thwaites piano
with The Fitzwilliam String Quartet
and instrumental ensemble
Internationally known as solo pianist and concerto player, and a leading exponent of Percy Grainger's music, Penelope Thwaites has always loved making music with others.
To celebrate 40 years since her London debut, she is delighted to be joined by the famed Fitzwilliam String Quartet in Dvořák's melodious Piano Quintet. The delicious folk-inspired programme also includes solo piano Bach/Liszt, Grieg's folk-dance arrangements, and the world premiere of a Grainger concerto movement, written in Frankfurt when he was 13. It has been specially arranged for this concert by Ben Woodgates and performed with outstanding young professionals.
And of course – there'll be one or two favourite Grainger hits.

Bach/Liszt Fantasia & Fugue in G minor, BWV 532
Grieg 4 Slåtter, Op. 72 (Norwegian Peasant Dances)

Grainger (arr. Woodgates) Youthful piano concerto movement (1896) (Premier performance)
