Event Details

Pianist Zubin Kanga performs a series of solo piano concerts this July, featuring newly commissioned works by Elliott Gyger, Daniel Rojas, and Nicholas Vines as well as works by Rolf Hind, Claudia Molitor and Alex Pozniak.

Offering an innovative take on the traditional piano recital, Zubin will explore new sounds and pianistic techniques: preparing the instrument with a variety of materials including ping-pong balls, blu-tac and crotales as well as plucking, strumming and striking the strings to conjure the sounds of harps, bells and a whole percussion ensemble from inside the piano.

Recently named 'best newcomer' at the 2010 ABC Limelight Awards, Zubin's 'fiery charm and virtuosic fluency' (SMH) is gaining him an international reputation as one of the most sought-after young performers of classical contemporary music.

Piano Inside/Out is made possible through the support of the Michael Kieran Harvey Scholarship.

Featured non-Australian music: Works by Rolf Hind and Claudia Molitor
