In Pleasure Garden, music and environmental sounds weave through the poetic, intimate listening space of the Salon. Elegant audio design transforms the Salon into a place of musical play, of repose and delight. It becomes a listening garden.
Inspired by the story and music of the 17th-century musician, composer, improviser and nobleman Jacob Van Eyck, Pleasure Garden combines excerpts from his work, set within newly-composed music by Genevieve Lacey and Jan Bang, in collaboration with Jim Atkins. You’re invited into an imagined garden, where delicate, contemplative sounds nourish your imagination and gently fill your senses.
Funded by Centre for the History of Emotions and Australia Council for the Arts, in partnership with Lambley Garden, ABC Classics and Four Winds.
