Quiver : Old and new complexity
- Date: Thursday, 28 April 2011, 8.00pm
- Venue: Iwaki Auditorium — ABC Southbank Centre, 120-130 Southbank Boulevard, South Melbourne, VIC
Event Details
Quiver presents a very exciting and unusual program of Old and New Complexity. In this free concert Quiver will explore the highly sophisticated and little known music of the 14th Century ‘Ars Subtilior’ composers, and their relationship and influence on composers of today. Although over five centuries
old, Ars Subtilior’s complex and refined language has a remarkable connection to music of the 20/21st century. By combining realisations of Ars Subtilior works dating between 1378–1417 with works by Dench, André and Ligeti, both past and present can be experienced in a new light.
Featured non-Australian music: Solage, Marc Andre, Matheus de Peruso, Ligeti, Magister Zacharias
