Event Details

After a previous concert cancellation due to illness, Tura presents the second concert in the 2017 Scale Variable New Chamber Music Series, featuring GreyWing ensemble this Saturday in the Main Auditorium, at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.

Surrounding the GreyWing trio of Lindsay Vickery (clarinet/saxophone), Catherine Ashley (harp) and Jameson Feakes (guitar), is Kirsten Smith (flute), Niamh Dell (oboe), and Stewart Smith (piano).

Rio 1917 is a celebration of Latin American Modernist and new music, and its local connections. The concert features recent and new works by contemporary Brazilian composer Felipe Lara, Chilean/Australian Pedro Alvarez and Peruvian/Australian Eduardo Cossio, and four responses to Villa-Lobos’ seminal Sexteto Mistico by West Australian composers Ellie Cumming, Sam Gillies, Alexander Turley and Lindsay Vickery.

Immerse yourself in a celebration of Latin American modern and new music by GreyWing ensemble as they explore a moment in time and place resulting in a burst of creative and vibrant new music.
