Event Details
Hear Ross Edwards' latest concerto, featuring saxophonist Amy Dickson and percussionist Colin Currie. And Mahler's Fourth Symphony with soprano Sylvia Schwartz makes for a heavenly concert.
Ross Edwards is one of Australia's preeminent composers, whose distinctive 'dancing-chanting' style brings a spirit of sacred contemplation and hypnotic energy to the concert hall. You can expect something transcendent and joyous from his new double concerto, composed for Australian saxophonist Amy Dickson and Scottish percussionist Colin Currie.
We're pairing it with Mahler's Fourth Symphony, music that has its own dance-like qualities and optimistic spirit. It begins with bells and unashamed lyricism, and by the end it has transported us to heaven - 'hung with violins'!
Featured non-Australian music: Mahler
