Australia’s foremost saxophonist, composer and band leader, Sandy Evans brings her renowned trio to the Foundry616 stage.

Formed in 2001, the classic saxophone trio format is a great way to experience Sandy Evan’s style. With regular performances in Australia, ongoing collaborations with Indian musicians, a tour of Europe and the release of their CDs ‘Not In The Mood’ and ‘The Edge of Pleasure’ have established the band’s reputation as one of the finest in the country.

With the trio, Sandy continues her long association with outstanding drummer Toby Hall. Sandy and Toby are known for their exciting work together in bands such as Clarion Fracture Zone and The catholics. Completing the line up is sensational bassist Brett Hirst.

In this concert, the trio will be presenting new works sandy is developing as part of her Australia Council Fellowship. Melbourne audiences can catch the band at The Stonnington Jazz festival on Saturday 13th may with special guest Andrea Keller.

Since its debut at The Australian Jazz Festival in Canberra, the trio has appeared for many of the leading jazz organisations in Australia including – Sydney Improvised Music Association, the Perth Jazz Society, Jazz South Australia, The Melbourne Jazz Co-operative, the Morpeth Jazz Festival, The Bellingen Jazz Society, The Jazzgroove Association, Devonport Jazz Weekend, Bungendore Jazz Festival and The Valley Jazz Festival in Brisbane. The group have toured Canada and Europe, where they performed to a sell out audience at the prestigious JazzFest Berlin.
