“Lyrical expression in the manner of pianists John Taylor or Bobo Stenson” - BBC Online
"Richly nuanced, multi faceted writing and highly skilled playing. One of the most consistently beautiful albums that I've heard all year". - jazzmann UK
Building on the sound created in the trio TRICHOTOMY, pianist/composer Sean Foran moves into deeper lyrical territory with a new group featuring piano, saxophone, guitar, cello and drums.
Recorded last year in a 2 day session outside of London, this new suite of music is intensely textural, and draws on sounds of European art music, minimalism and contemporary jazz. The result is utterly compelling, with Foran's trademark melodic clarity juxtaposed against rhythmic density. The unusual instrumental combination leads to varied sonic combinations, with piano, guitar, cello and saxophone all taking melodic roles.
Sean tours this album to the UK in early October and for the MJC show has assembled a remarkable band of musicians for this special event.
