Event Details
Tura presents the third concert in the 2017 Scale Variable New Chamber Music Series, featuring Perth ensemble Intercurrent, performing 'Simulacra'. 'Simulacra' is an exploration of a world of musical doubles; real, imagined and imperfect. Centred around the twisting parallels of Philip Glass’s iconic 'Music in Similar Motion', the program includes a recent work from international composer Hannah Lash (USA), and three premieres by Australian composers Julian Day (VIC), Chris Tonkin (WA) and Alex Turley (WA). Consisting of percussion, clarinet, electronics and piano, Intercurrent are Lachlan Skipworth, Louise Devenish, Ashley Smith and Emily Green-Armytage. All respected artists in their own right, this ensemble combines cutting-edge musicianship and works of compelling artistic vision.
Performers: Lachlan Skipworth, Louise Devenish, Ashley Smith, Emily Green-Armytage
Featured non-Australian music: Hannah Lash's 'C' & Philip Glass' 'Music in a Similar Motion'
