Event Details
Sydney Chamber Choir continues its 40th anniversary year as conductor Richard Gill weaves multiple musical threads into a rich tapestry of choral delights. Three exquisite part-songs by Debussy and three by Ravel; three heavenly motets and three utterly earthly madrigals; and six modern Australian composers. Six musical threesomes, each in sparkling conversation with the others, across the centuries and around the world. Elliot Gyger and Dan Walker both take their inspiration from iconic Australian poems, while Dulcie Holland offers a 20th century Australian take on a traditional English carol. Gillian Whitehead based her mass setting on the intricate polyphony of the 16th century; Elena Kats-Chernin draws on that most contemporary of social phenomena, the radio talk show.
Featured non-Australian music: Debussy, Ravel, Gesualdo and Josquin dez Prez
