Event Details

Soft Soft Loud: The Antihero Suite is a rare opportunity for audiences to enjoy the artistry, passion and poise of Australia’s leading contemporary chamber musicians in an intimate outdoor setting.

Performed on a specially designed set in Fremantle Arts Centre’s evocative Inner Courtyard, Soft Soft Loud turns traditional chamber music on its head and invites music lovers of all tastes to delve into three works in a relaxed and charming setting.

In its world premiere, title-piece The Antihero Suite sees composer and pianist Steve Newcomb reimagining some of cinema’s most memorable scores with the help of electronic processing, the ensemble and a toy piano.

Heinz Karl Gruber’s Frankenstein!!! (featuring acclaimed WA Opera baritone James Clayton) and British golden-boy composer Thomas Adès' Living Toys, will also put the idea of the antihero under the microscope as you are invited to get up close and personal with these brilliant contemporary compositions.

Artistic Director Matthew Hoy, Music Director James Ledger, baritone James Clayton.

Featured non-Australian music: Adès, Gruber
