Deutsche Grammophon artist and Grammy-nominated mandolin virtuoso Avi Avital joins the Southern Cross Soloists in their first concert of 2013 in a stunning program featuring Baroque masterworks and traditional folk songs.
This Israeli mandolin master charms audiences with his striking musicianship, technical brilliance and flamboyant style. The concert will showcase his extraordinary talents as we circle the globe visiting countries including France, Italy and Hungary. Be captivated with Avi's performance of Bloch's famous and haunting Nigun - Hebrew for 'melody'.
The concert includes a composition for piano trio by the Australian composer Paul Stanhope.
