Event Details
Pierre Boulez's memorial tribute to a fellow composer keeps an orchestra on its toes with eight independent groups of musicians spread throughout the concert hall to create a unique sonic experience for listeners. Georges Lentz, one of Australia's most distinctive and celebrated musical voices (and an SSO violinist!), is another composer who understands how to create beautiful and intriguing soundscapes that resonate through physical space - close your eyes and you could be listening to the sound of galaxies. In this concert we get to hear his latest, eagerly awaited creation. And to bring the concert to a glorious close, David Robertson has chosen Debussy's evocation of the sea, with its surging rhythms and washes of colour.
Featured non-Australian music: Boulez, Debussy
