Event Details
The concert will open with Bartok's Romanian Folk Dances (arr. for string orchestra) followed by a virtuosic Ballade by Hungarian composer Roland Szentpali (b1977) for tuba and string quartet. The ensemble will then perform the world premiere of Degustation by Australian composer Cliff Kerr (b. 1984) before concluding the concert with Elgar's lyrically beautiful Serenade for Strings.
Kerr's new work has been commissioned with the support of Ars Musica Australis Australis. This concert is proudly presented by the University of Sydney Union with the support of Ars Musica Australis and The Australian Elizabethan Theatre Trust.
Sydney Camerata is comprised of some of Australia's finest emerging string musicians aged between 18 and 28. The ensemble was formed in 2008 and is directed from the violin by Liz Gormley.
