Event Details

Five years in the making, Some of Two Parts is the exciting all-original duo improvisations of saxophonist Loretta Palmeiro with accomplished pianist and composer Mark Isaacs. From a bedrock of jazz and contemporary classical music, they play with folkloric elements and qualities of the Iberian peninsula such as flamenco and fado. In meeting and playing spontaneous inventions with versatile saxophonist Loretta he found a like-minded soul and a spirited duo was born. The results can be passionate, furious, brash, delicate.

Described by The Age as having “an instinctively melodic approach”, saxophonist Angela Davis is a unique and sought-after musician with two critically acclaimed albums as bandleader. The Art of the Melody (2013) launched at world-renowned New York City venue The Kitano, and received rave reviews throughout the USA and Australia. Her second album as bandleader, Lady Luck (2015), was shortlisted for three Australian Jazz Bell Awards including Best Instrumental Jazz Album, Best Produced Album and Best Australian Jazz Composition.
