Event Details
A genuine cross-cultural music event. Didjeridu legend, William Barton, joins Australia's leading exponent of the tabla, Dheeraj Shrestha, and highly acclaimed and inventive quintet of strings, saxophone and piano, Topology, to create soaring music using the intricacies of North Indian rhythms and blissful string textures. Both Will and Dheeraj show their strengths as composers of chamber music before letting fly in spectacular solo. The two artists have worked with Topology to devise a whole collection of new works, many showing an influence from Topology's work with minimalist pioneer, Terry Riley. They'll combine ecstatic rhythmic interplay with lush orchestral textures, traditional Australian melodies, jazz-tinged indie and a few surprises in the mix. Join some of Australia's leading musicians for a journey across all sorts of musical borders.
Featured non-Australian music: Edgar Meyer
