Event Details

Having celebrated 30 years to a full house of jazz lovers at Foundry616 a year ago, Ten Part Invention returns to the club to showcase their virtuosity as individuals and a band.

Ten Part Invention is one of the greatest, most expressive large ensembles to emerge from Australia. Their coveted Australian “Song Book” features rarely heard compositions by members past and present including Roger Frampton, Bernie McGann, Sandy Evans, Miroslav Bukovsky and Andrew Robson. Tonight’s anniversary performance is hosted by band leader, Artistic Director, jazz legend and ‘raconteur extraordinaire’ drummer John Pochée OAM.

John Shand described them in a review earlier this year as “A living organism rather than a museum of memories” and “A great band that thankfully won’t lie down.”

With some of our most distinctive and brilliant solo voices, playing all Australian original compositions, come and be thrilled by their musicianship and moved by the beauty of the ensemble’s unique, decades-long rapport:

Sandy Evans, Andrew Robson, Bob Bertles, Paul Cutlan (saxophones)
Warrick Alder, Miroslav Bukovsky (trumpets)
James Greening (trombone)
Paul McNamara (piano)
Steve Elphick (bass)
Dave Goodman (drums)
