Event Details

Performance 4a celebrates the end of a remarkable year with The Longhouse Affair. The event will be a showcase of contemporary Asian Australian performance, featuring master storyteller William Yang, cabaret artist Paul Cordeiro, Terumi Narushima, filmmaker Pearl Tan, dancer Ryuichi Fujimura, musician Nicholas Ng, performer Valerie Berry and other surprise guests from the Performance 4a community.

This fundraiser completes a highly successful year at the Longhouse. It will also support Performance 4a's exciting plans for 2016 including the World Premiere of 'In Between Two' at Carriageworks from 21 Jan as part of Sydney Festival, the return season of 'Yasukichi Murakami - Through a Distant Lens by Mayu Kanamori at Riverside Parramatta, LOTUS First Draft and of course, a new series of Longhouse events.

In some traditional societies, the longhouse is a meeting place where the village gathers to share stories, make plans and bond as a community. Launched in August 2015, Performance 4a’s Longhouse program is a series of regular events where those with an interest in contemporary Asian Australian performance gather to play, learn, share, create, collaborate and network. It has quickly become a creative hub leading the conversation about cultural diversity on our stages. Enthusiastically received by colleagues throughout the theatre sector, The Longhouse has quickly become a creative hub leading the conversation about cultural diversity on our stages.
