Amplified string ensemble, The NOISE, in their ‘power viola-cello duo’ formation take on the might of guitarist Zane Banks and the noise electronics of Alex Pozniak in a not-to-be-missed collaboration… This is going to be ‘wall of sound’ stuff.
Zane Banks has recorded for NAXOS and was voted Best Newcomer in the 2011 Limelight Awards. Alex Pozniak is one of the most regarded young Australian composers and was the winner of the 2011 APRA Professional Development Award for the classical category.
The NOISE’s members include current or previous members of various top calibre classical ensembles (such as ACO, Brandenburg, SSO, Ensemble Offspring). FBi Radio describes them as “fantastic classical musicians… a million miles away from classical music”. Think: Kronos Quartet meets Radiohead meets The Necks. To hear The NOISE live at one of their improvised shows, is to hear (in real time) a new piece of music being born, to witness a group of musicians simultaneously compose a brand new work, on the spot, and to experience a unique world of sound and emotion erupt from the place where classical music, alternative rock, jazz, world music, sound art and the avant-garde collide.
