the Tim Clarkson Trio return to the Sound Lounge as part of a Nation- wide tour, following last year’s release of ‘Land of Free Men’. Now in their eighth year, the Tim Clarkson Trio sounds like no-one else. A unique blend and balanced counterpoint between bass, drums and saxophone, intriguing compositions and rippling rhythmic flow. The evolution of this group has tracked the development of three very individual voices through their trajectory performing internationally into a tight-knit and virtuosic team with a unique place in Australian jazz. Always taking risks, even in moments of sublime and still beauty, these three musicians weave a web of intrigue through quirky grooves, serene stillness and moments of unbridled passion. Exploring the historic and contemporary expressions of what it means to live in a free society ‘Land of Free Men’ is in part dedicated to the victims of the Newtown Massacre which occurred during the recording session. This album marked a new development in Clarkson’s voice and at this gig he will further document the trio’s development with a live recording of the performance.
