Event Details
Respected pianist/composer Dr Tony Gould is one of the most ‘formally’ recognised figures to work in the Australian jazz scene (although Gould refers to his music as "post-jazz"). Appointed to the position of Professor of Music at Monash University in 2012, he was the recipient of the 2011 Australian Jazz Bell Award in the Qantas Hall of Fame category, and a $60,000 Don Banks Fellowship in 2009. To mark his birthday, he is joined by some of his favourite colleagues with Emma Gilmartin (voice), Imogen Manins (cello), David Griffiths (clarinet), Ben Robertson (acoustic bass), Joe Batrouney (drums), and Stephen Byth (tenor saxophone) in a series of duos, trios and solos.
