Event Details
There’s nothing quite like a percussion concerto. Surrounded by banks of glittering hardware, the soloist flits from one instrument to the next – shaking this, hitting that, striking something else. The amazing Claire Edwardes, who has been dubbed a “sorceress of percussion”, will leave you spellbound as she throws herself, body and soul, into the Percussion Concerto by Iain Grandage, which has been specially written for her.
Making his long anticipated TSO debut is conductor Nicholas Carter, a young Australian currently making a name for himself in Europe. Recently appointed Kapellmeister at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Nicholas Carter will be in his element conducting orchestral arrangements from Carmen and Hansel and Gretel.
Featured non-Australian music: Humperdinck, Bizet
