"Twelve one-page piano pieces were written in August 2001. They are either transcriptions of other pieces or mine or newly composer. One idea behind the collection was to write something that is not very difficult, for the earlier stages of learning to play the piano. The other idea was to write pieces that would fit on a single page - and they did indeed fit while I was writing them by hand! However, once they were typeset, only one of them ("Play properly") fit onto a single page. I got quite attached to the initial title of the collection and decided to leave it - so the title remains the same, even though it may not appear quite right." Elena Kats-Chernin
The piece 'Russian Waltz' is a technically easier version of Russian Rag.
