The Latin title of this piece can be translated as follows: "The have confronted the sea of darkness and that which was in it to explore."
This composition is intended as a symbolic expression of the composer's journey, through darkness, to the light of illumination. In this composition, Tiutiunnik has derived both the harmony and overall formal structure from various pitch groups, or melodies, created by her as part of the compositional process.
