Product details

A three-time ARIA award-winning artist, Andrea Keller's latest album of dazzling original compositions is set to thrill and mesmerise audiences once again. This album confirms Andrea Keller's place at the forefront of the Australian jazz scene.

She says of the album: "The music on this album was composed in three stages. Prague 10 and The Wolf Pack were composed while I was living in Prague (2002).

Upon my return in early 2003 I adopted a compositional approach of giving myself ten minutes in which to write a piece. The House, Resting Place and Tough Guy were the outcome.

'When sometimes we become what we were born for' was inspired by Sheenagh Pugh's poem 'Sometimes' which I received in response to the death of inspirational Sydney/New Zealand pianist/composer Jann Rutherford.

Following this, I was commissioned by the Melbourne Women's International Jazz Festival (2003) to premier a set of new music dedicated to Jann. This resulted in the composition of One, One am I, Twenty-ten, Angels and Rascals, Machine Gun Piano and Life that lingers (funded by the Australia Council). The performance of these pieces allowed the quartet to expand to include two outstandingly gifted young musicians, Shannon Barnett and Gian Slater."

ARIA Award nominee for Best Jazz Album 2005

CD dedicated to the memory of Jann Rutherford (1964-2003)
