Product details
Blues at Eleven was composed for Helen Tuckey, a violist with the WASO who wanted a contemporary piece for middle grade viola students. Other solo parts are included for vln,fl,cl,and Eb/Bb saxes. The piece has been included in the AMEB Grade 5 Viola syllabus.
As the title suggests, the piece is a slow blues-style work but in the time signature of 11/8. In effect it is mostly a compound 12/8 feel but with the last quaver of each bar dropped. It has been played successfully on a number of occasions with various solo instruments and is well suited to upper secondary school students and above. The piano part is the same for all versions.
