Product details
Composer Martin Wesley-Smith and teacher Kim Waldock have written an imaginative set of musical activities around Boojum!, Wesley-Smith's nonsensical musical comedy based on Lewis Carroll's The Hunting of the Snark.
Aimed at years 7-10, the kit explores well-known songs such as I'm a Caterpillar of Society (Not a Social Butterfly) from the perspective of composition, performance and analysis. Looking at six numbers from Boojum! in concert, the kit builds into a survey of song writing styles in contemporary musical theatre, and makes comparisons with both twentieth-century and more traditional styles.
The Boojum! kit contains:
Double compact disc of Boojum!; Background notes on Martin and Peter Wesley-Smith, Boojum!, and musical theatre in general; Booklet of score extracts; Photocopiable worksheets; Teacher's text; Six-week lesson plan covering the main elements of the syllabus
Contents note: Teacher's booklet -- CD 'Boojum' by Martin and Peter Wesley-Smith (Vox Australis: VAST 010-2) -- score extracts -- libretto.
Teacher's booklet: ISBN 0-909168-37-7.
Provides teaching activities from the perspective of composition, performance and analysis to accompany the compact disc Boojum! by Martin Wesley-Smith. For secondary schools.
