Product details
Encounters seemed an apt title for this work in five movements which reflects the meeting of violin and cello as equal partners in a musical dialogue; often they sing together, sometimes tenderly and at other times with frenetic energy. The musical landscape is one of contrast though there is unity in style. The duration of the work is approximately fifteen minutes, however, it has been designed to allow the extraction of individual movements to stand alone, or in combination, as short performance pieces.
In writing the work I was always aware of the particular musical gifts of Mary Nemet and Gary Williams who commissioned the work. Their musical gifts are distinguished by a rare depth and quality of musicianship, a sensitivity to musical line and the ability to produce luscious, warm tone.
