Sheet Music: ScoreFiligrees II : for piano / Gerald Glynn.by Gerald Glynn (1987)
|
Product details
In this, the second of the Filigrees series for solo piano, the same ideas and procedures of motivic repetition and variation, borrowed from Islamic decorative art, are heard. They are used even more emphatically than before, but there is a significant structural change compared to the pioneering Filigrees 1: there are many returns to the opening intervals of the fourth and the tritone, providing both the player and the listener with a fixed base to return to, after the increasingly rhapsodic flourishes that the soloist is asked to perform.
