First Light at Uluru is inspired by the spectacular sunrise over Uluru - Australia's most famous icon. Also known as Ayers Rock, it is a giant 'red rock' in the middle of Australia's desert, with the ground made up of red soil. The peaceful and serene atmosphere of Ayers Rock is reflected by soothing air vibrato saxophone effects, depicting soft gusts of wind.
Contemporary playing techniques enhance the giant red rock's illuminating red and orange glowing sunrise, and showcases the captivating, atmospheric and unique palette of colours of the saxophone orchestra. Extended techniques featured in this work showcase how avant-garde saxophone effects can create unique, calm, expressive and atmospheric passages.
