Product details
God in the Machine celebrates the 400 year anniversary in 2007 of Monteverdi's La Favola d'Orfeo. The composer reflected on the changes in music since Monteverdi created his Masterwork. New technologies played a prominent role then as now. The Latin "Deus ex Machina" (God in / from the Machine) refers to the magnificent mechanical devises first used in early opera to fly singers on stage magically as if from the heavens. Today our musical technologies are mainly digital. In this work a different interpretation of "Deus Ex Machina" is therefore explored. Here, a sampler and synthesizer are used as mediums for Gods.
