The work was written as part of my residency at the University of Queensland where I was a founding member of Perihelion Ensemble. The composer notes:
The work was written as part of my residency at the University of Queensland shortly after I arrived there. I had previously worked in Sydney with Vincent Plush's Magpie Musicians and was exposed to a great deal of Sydney-centric Australian music and musical thinking as part of that experience. Aspects of that experience are reflected in the approachable style and good humour of this piece.
