Lachash (incantation) : violin solo / David Hush
by David Hush (1995)
In late 1995 Zina Schiff was visiting Australia to give a solo recital under the aegis of the Friends of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in Sydney. Shortly after her return to the United States we were stunned by the news of the assasination of Yitzhak Rabin, the Prime Minister of Israel, on 4 November 1995. Lachash (Incantation) was written as a personal response to this deep and irreversible tragedy for the Rabin family, the State of Israel, and the Jewish people. The first performance of Lachash was given by Zina Schiff in San Diego 28 May 1996.
