Summary: A radiophonic reading of the text-based artwork, Nearamnew, installed on Federation Square Plaza, Melbourne. Nine poems (memory traces) by Paul Carter are carved into the stones and cobbles, giving voice to the historical, cultural and spiritual communities of the place. Nearamnew is derived from the local word 'narr-m', signifying 'the place where Melbourne now stands'. It is a founding work celebrating the emergence of a new space. Written by Paul Carter and read by the author on the shores of Lake Tyrell. With ensemble readings from Andrew Tighe, Anne Lambert, Lucy Bell, Julian Garner, Bill Conn, Andrea Moore, and members of the Opera Australia children's chorus: Kate Hulme, Liam Gibson, Jack Mannix and Ellena Baroni. Produced by Andrew McLennan.
