Product details
I wrote this work to introduce young players to playing in an ensemble, as well as learning how to reda and count, so I included some sections of simple rhythms, tapped 'col-legno' (the kids love that). It is, as its name implies, a gentle, lyrical work, that takes advantage of open string sonorities, and the second violins and violas even get to play D major scale (one octave) in a musical context.(How's that for clever psychology?)
The piano part and the finger-cymbal are both optional, but do add to the works performance. I included them so as to enable other students of mine to participate. The finger cymbal part in particular is good for string students who are not quite ready to play, to develop their reading skills and enjoy the social aspect of performing.
