Sheet Music: ScorePiano fantasia no. 1 : for solo piano / Andrew Harrison.by Andrew Harrison (1997)

Product details
Piano Fantasia No. 1
takes its inspiration from jazz composer and
pianist Andrew Hill, who has been a strong influence. The work
employs syncopation and rhythm as a driving force, reflecting and
reinterpreting Hill's percussive and polyrhythmic approach to the
piano. As the piece unfolds, moments of lyricism and beauty
emerge out of the rhythmic intensity, often in abstracted
gestures looking to escape the dominant rhythmic landscape.
The piece is in three movements; the first and third movements
are fully notated, the second movement is a structured
improvisation. The performance notes include a detailed
description of the requirements for executing the second
movement.
