This trio was written for a student piano trio, presenting challenges to the ensemble but in a largely familiar musical language. Its 1st movement is reminiscent of the 19th century, the second draws on a modal folk tradition and the 3rd is a Scherzo and Chorale (reworked from the Piano Concerto - the farce we must all play)
