Product details
This work was commissioned by the Sydney Saxophone Quartet and has was recorded in Cuba in 2015 by the Javier Zalba quartet for the ABRAZO CD produced by Parma Recordings USA.
The work is in four movements.
The first movement is lively and highly syncopated and has been recorded with Cuban percussion accompaniment. The second movement (Moderato) is based on a descending syncopated theme in 7/4 time which moves to a singing 3/4 section and then finishes in 5/4. The third movement (Presto) juxtaposes lively rhythmic chordal effects with flowing melodic lines. In the final movement (Moderato) repeated sixteenth notes and figures are contrasted with more flowing melodic lines. This movement has also been recorded with Cuban percussion accompaniment.
The first movement Havana Promenade is self-published by the composer. Movements 2,3 and 4 are published by Furore Music.
