Sheet Music: Score
String quartet, opus 26 / Andrew Schultz.
by Andrew Schultz (1986)
String Quartet, op. 26 was composed in 1986 whilst the composer was living in London and working with David Lumsdaine at King's College London. The work is highly compressed and motivic and falls into four movements which gradually increase in duration and tempo up till the fourth movement which at 5 minutes duration is the longest. The subtitle of the work, Boy in a birdcage, comes from the second part of the third movement and captures the mood of some of the piece.
