Product details

This work was commissioned by the Canberra community music group Music for Everyone through Australia Council funding. It is scored for orchestra and SSAA choir. This work explores what it means to be a migrant in Australia including the grief of leaving the home country and the excitement and fear of building a new life in an adopted land. The vocal score uses lines of migrant poetry to form a kind of poetic mosaic. The title is taken from a poem by an anonymous Highland emigrant to Canada in the 1800s. The piece is relatively easy to play.
