Summary: Against the warnings of her holocaust survivor father, Ramona Koval makes a journey to Poland. She is looking for what she calls 'happy stories' after the tales of tragedy she has heard. She has the beginnings of three stories, each with its own talisman: a cellar, some hinges and a copper samovar. Her travels take her to the town of Siedlce, where her father was born, to the hamlet of Wirozeby where her mother was born, and to the village of Niemirow on the eastern border with Byelrus. Performers: Robert Menzies (reader), Aaron Rynie, Jacob Dromi, Mordechai Koval (interviewees), Leszek Borkovski (voice of), Rita Tyler (singer), Karen Feldman (singer). Produced by Ramona Koval and Robyn Ravlich.
