Sheet Music: Performance PartsThe naming / Jessica Wells.by Jessica Wells (2010)
|
Product details
I've used the Celtic folk song "O Waly Waly" as a starting point to the piece - a lullaby sung by a parent to their child (as I did with my son) and symbolises the name a child is given by the parents.
As the child grows older the name takes on more complexity, as
first heard in the retrograde of the melody, and then by
modulation, rhythmic manipulation and chords derived from the
melody.
Complexity grows, as does the child into an adult, and takes
ownership of their name. Making it their own. The original melody
is present throughout, as a symbol of the "building blocks" of
character.
