Commissioned to kick off the 4th (and final) National Festival of Women's Music, I wanted this celebratory fanfare to address the question: Can women write music? This question started our 10 year cycle of 4 Australian festivals - Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, then Canberra where we lay the ghost of this question to rest. It takes off the title, The Unanswered Question, with a brass ensemble for this occasion of women, by women, for women to say, "Obviously - yes we can!"
It is a fun pulsing piece of heraldic joy that would suit graduations and other festive events with brass ensembles.
