Product details
Three Distractions was commissioned by Christopher Keane for the Cranbrook Guitar Ensemble in late 2001. The title grew out of my circumstances at the time, as I was composing a major work for the 2002 Darwin International Guitar Festival - my duo guitar & guitar orchestra concerto -"Rhapsody". I set aside that work to write these pieces! In a way it was a nice distraction, as they were great fun to compose.
The individual movements are entitled, Déjà vu, a piece with a melody slightly similar to an earlier work, Livewire; Daydreams, with a calm, warm, afternoon feel and Dangerous Curves, a quirky bi-tonal blues that gives you a sense of being "in a car, out-of-control, down a windy mountain road!"
