Sheet Music: ScoreThree pieces for string quartet : II. Breathing / Haydn Reeder. Also known as: Breathing by Haydn Reeder (2012)
|
Product details
Breathing stems from an idea for a potentially long piece for orchestra. There is obvious reference to the title in the repeated time signatures and dynamics and the thick texture explores a less common feature of this instrumentation. The piece has turned out to be quite short, probably because the opening harmony develops a strong presence, either by interrupting or becoming a point of return and also, being a symmetrical chord, has a calming effect, especially in this context.
