Sheet Music: ScoreUbi Caritas : for SATB choir / Paul Stanhope.by Paul Stanhope (2012)

Product details
Ubi Caritas, commissioned by Graeme Morton and the
Brisbane Chamber Choir, was written with both liturgical and
concert performances in mind, and for this reason I sought a text
that could work both in a specific church-based context and also
strive for more universal themes. I essentially view it as an
exhortation for unity through shared love and respect.
Although there are small references to a plainchant melody (more
famously used by Maurice Duruflé in his own Ubi Caritas)
the musical style is largely homophonic, although with
considerable interplay between voices. Dance-like verses and more
contemplative sections are punctuated by a refrain which
gradually begins to dissolve into free echo sections as the piece
progresses.
