Product details

With a view to infinity was composed for Flederman in 1982 as a part of a Composer Fellowship awarded by the Australia Council, Music Board. The group gave the piece its premiere performances as part of a tour throughout regional centres in Queensland with the first performance given at the Queensland Conservatorium in Brisbane. The work takes it name and character from three scenes from David Malouf's novel, An Imaginary Life; the novel is an imagined recreation of the Roman poet Ovid's life in exile in Tomis where noone speaks his language. The music attempts to capture the atmosphere of the desolate and strange environment Ovid finds himself in.
