Product details
Duration: 58 min.
This product forms part of the following series: Listening Room.
Broadcast on "The Listening Room" on ABC Classic FM, 26 May 1997.
"Yurabirong", presented on the occasion of the National Reconciliation Convention, evokes a sonic picture of Sydney through archival recordings and re-enactments of the arrival of Cook and Phillip. These audio memories are used as a counter point to recordings of contemporary indigenous Australians. Using recordings of dissident Indonesian poet Agam Wispi and of Indonesian music, Ion Pearce and Steven Miller have created a sound expression moving between language and music, and articulating a difficult time and conflation of times in Indonesian and other cultures.
Non-commercial recording. For study purposes only.
