Work Overview

In three movements or cross sections, it features both the trumpet and trombone as soloists intertwined with the brass ensemble. Each musical cross section acknowledges the complexity and changing emotional landscape each day brings us. The piece represents three such moments of complexity, when of course in a day there are many more.

The work focuses on interaction between the ensemble and solos through means of orchestration or through sections dedicated to (guided) improvisation. The soloist parts are for professional level players and the ensemble part was written for Melbourne Conservatorium of Music Brass Ensemble. Over the duration of the work it is both rhythmic and lush.
