Work Overview
This was commissioned by Mrs Jean Cottral who lives near Melbourne. She had heard my music on ABC Classic FM and felt that I was the composer she would like to commission to write a piece of music in memory of her daughter Eve who died tragically young. She stipulated that it should be a Nocturne for solo piano, 3 to 4 minutes in length, melodic, elegant and dedicated to her daughter Eve, hence the title 'Nocturne for Eve'. My aim was not only to meet these requirements but also to create musically a portrait of someone now departed but still alive in our memory.
